Bet
Put chips in the pot.
Big Blind
A
bet
that is equal to one
small bet
that the player two seats to the left of the
button
must pay before any cards are dealt.
Bluff
Trying to win the pot by betting or raising to make the other players fold in fear of your hand.
Button
A white disc to the right of the blinds that marks the dealer of the hand.
Board
The table. The community cards are called board cards.
Call
To match a bet or a raise.
Check
When there is no bet needed to call and a player does not bet out, he checks.
Community cards
The cards that can be used by all players.
Flop
The three first community cards that are dealt right after the first betting round.
Fold
To drop your hole cards and thereby forfeit all further interest in the pot.
Hole cards
The two cards that each player has for himself.
No limit
A game where you may bet or raise with as many bets as you like each turn.
Raise
To match up a previous bet and raise with one more bet.
Re-raise
To raise a bet if someone already have raised.
River
The fifth and last community card.
Showdown
When the remaining players show their cards to determine the winner.
Turn
The fourth community card, dealt after the flop.
